What that can look like
Meet Mrs X, a regular London commuter.
She makes about 40 rail journeys in a typical month. DelayScout identified five qualifying delays in this anonymised example, averaging £5.10 for each approved claim.
Illustrative anonymised example based on recent completed claims. Results vary by journey, ticket and operator decision.
Don’t know the train code? Perfect.
Just forward the ticket.
A valid ticket tells us the route, date, ticket type and often the booked train. If anything important is missing, the reply explains exactly what we need.
tickets@delayscout.comCommon questions
Before you send a ticket.
Is DelayScout free?
Yes. DelayScout is free to use, with no fee or commission deducted from your compensation.
Will you submit without asking me?
No. You select the train and complete a declaration confirming that you travelled, or genuinely intended to travel on a cancelled service, before we submit.
How far back can you check?
We check eligible journeys from the last 28 days. Claim deadlines vary, so send or search for a ticket as soon as you can.
Which tickets are supported?
The beta supports common UK rail tickets including Single, Return, Advance, Anytime, Off-Peak, split tickets, Flexi Season and conventional season tickets. Uncertain matches are held for your review.
Which train operators are covered?
DelayScout is designed for UK train operators. Some operator processes are completed manually while coverage grows during beta.
What if you cannot identify my train?
We ask you to choose the service or place the ticket into manual review. We do not submit a claim based on a guess.
How do I receive compensation?
The operator pays DelayScout under the authority in your declaration. We then send the approved amount directly to your saved UK bank account.
Do you handle ticket refunds?
No. DelayScout handles Delay Repay claims only. For an unused-ticket refund, contact the retailer that sold the ticket.
